Bali. It's the vacation spot you hear about all the time. However, does it really live up to the hype? I traveled to Bali for a few days and I can tell you confidently that the answer to that question is YES*!

Day 1
For day one, we went to GWK Park. Despite its name, the lush greens aren't actually the star of the show here. Instead, it's the statues. Balinese statues have this really interesting design, with faces that have their own unique style. The designers also added weathering to the statue, making it seem rough and living as it battled with the environment around it. It definitely adds a lot to the atmosphere and makes everything seem that much more alive. In the distance, at the top of a mountain, is the real star of the show.

This is a 121m high statue! Garuda is the bird deity's name and the person on his back is the Hindu god Vishnu. The picture doesn't really do it justice. It's definitely a "you have to be there" sight. As for going up, you don't have to worry about climbing. The sidewalk is pretty smooth and for those of you with injuries, there's transport all the way up.

This is Suluban Beach. Yes, this is how it looks in real life. Being an island, Bali is home to some of the most captivating scenery out there. The sand here is extremely soft and the tide is always aplenty. It's beautiful enough to have the pictures speak for themselves.

Nestled on the southwestern tip of Bali's Bukit Peninsula, Uluwatu Temple boasts an unrivaled panorama that takes your breath away. One of the highlights of visiting Uluwatu Temple is witnessing the captivating Kecak dance performance. As the sun begins to set, the temple's cliffside amphitheater comes alive with the rhythmic chants and hypnotic movements of the Kecak dancers. This traditional Balinese dance depicts the Ramayana, an ancient Hindu legend. The dance even uses actual fire to add to the story!
Day 2

Krishna Ole Ole is not just any ordinary store. It's a place that takes you on a cultural journey across Bali. The stuff they've got here reflects Bali's awesome artistic heritage. For example, handmade goodies like silver jewelry, wooden masks, and batik textiles that are all crafted by talented Balinese artists. While the quality of some products can be hit-or-miss, they’re all very unique and definitely deserve a place in your baggage on the way home.

Nusa Penida is a diver’s paradise. However, it’s an island in itself and the only way to get across is a ferry. The ferry ride to Nusa Penida was a thrill in itself. Picture this: a speedy boat zooming through the ocean waves, wind in your hair, and the smell of saltwater in the air. It's like a mini rollercoaster ride, but with incredible views of the turquoise sea and dramatic cliffs. However, if you do feel motion sick, I’d highly advise packing a few pills.
Now, let's dive into the scuba diving adventure. The diving points are like a real-life aquarium, with colorful coral reefs, tropical fish of all shapes and sizes, and even majestic manta rays gliding gracefully by. The dive spots like Crystal Bay and Manta Point were high points on the trip.
Day 3

Tirta Empul is a sacred water temple located near the town of Tampaksiring. Its holy springs are believed to have healing powers. While there is more walking here, I believe that it’s well worth it. Lush gardens, intricate stone carvings, and a peaceful ambiance make Tirta Empul a true oasis. I’d advise you to take your time to explore the surroundings and soak up the serene atmosphere.

Picture this: lush green hills stretching as far as the eye can see, neatly layered like giant steps leading up to the heavens. That's exactly what you'll find at Ceking Terrace. The uniform stacking of rice terraces makes this place a must-visit. There are swings here which allow you to soar across the rice fields and bask in the afternoon sun in a novel and exuberant fashion.
Day 4

Yes, it’s THAT image. The one you see on every “trip to Bali” blog, every Bali video and even in Bali advertisements. It’s Lempuyang Temple, also known as the Gate to Heaven. This is the place for 5-hour queues (yes, you read that right) for a chance to obtain an otherworldly photo. The way they do this is actually quite simple; place a small, square mirror perpendicular to the camera lens. This creates an effect that, while not there in person, comes off great in any picture you take.

This is Tirta Ganga. It’s a must-visit, as it’s simply a beautiful place. There’s water everywhere, ample chance of rain and even fish food for feeding the fish in the lake. It’s beautiful, serene and just an oasis of comfort.

Picture this: a majestic temple perched on a rocky island, surrounded by crashing waves and stunning sunsets. It's like a scene straight out of a movie, except it’s a real place, and you’re the star act. The way you get to the temple is really interesting. During sundown, the tide recedes and reveals a clear path across the crashing waves. It’s kind of like a daily parting of the Red Sea. Here’s a tip: visit Tanah Lot during sunset. The sky turns into a canvas of fiery colors, casting a magical glow over the temple and the ocean. It's a moment you'll never forget.
Accomodation
Accomodation is Bali can be whatever you want it to be. On one hand, there's the standard hotels. The Hiltons, the Ramadas, etc. However, you also have private villas, which truly are a novel experience. You have open air washrooms, outdoor pools, outdoor dining areas and your own spacious room! It's an experience worth living.
And that’s Bali. A memorable place, to be sure, but also a serene one. The best part about Bali is that it appeals to everyone; Instagram people, history buffs, thrill seekers, etc. There’s truly something there for everyone.
