While I've heard of the five stages of grief, I've never found a personal analogy that really works for me. However, today is the day that changes.
Say you're driving a car and you decide that it would be perfect to go off-road with it. However, it gets stuck.
Denial: You try and rev the car up to full power, trying to get it moving. Maybe even try to dig it out by hand.
Anger: Now, this could be self-inflicted anger or you could turn bitter toward everything around you. Now, that totally depends on the type of person you are.
Bargaining: Okay, now that you've accepted you're stuck, instead of calling the free tow service, you decide to try and ask some others in the area for some tools to save face.
Depression: Your plan has failed. They do not have any tools and worse, now more people are aware of your predicament. You'd hate to call the hotline, but your logic overpowers your ego and calls them up.
Acceptance: The help arrives. You manage to get free and drive away hastily, wishing to forget the entire ordeal.
