Over the past month and a bit, I've been patiently waiting for and participating in BreakTheCode 2. I had a blast playing it, so why not write a blog about it?
What is BreakTheCode?
BreakTheCode is a web-based competition organized by .TECH Domains. In the latest version, you, a Codebreaker, are tasked with making your way through a series of puzzles, each requiring you to employ the little grey cells to try and beat the rest. If you do end up getting first in the world, you can win extravagant prizes from a Tamagotchi all the way to a $10,000 custom PC setup. (Sadly, I wasn't able to scoop anything up. Next year, perhaps?)
BreakTheCode 2? Where's 1?
Well, BreakTheCode 1 already took place 2 years ago! That's right, in 2020, .TECH Domains made a (much smaller) debut game that involved solving puzzles to win cool prizes, entitled BreakTheCode. It was a smash hit, amassing over 100,000 players in a little over 3 weeks. (I also played in that one. Although there was no plot, it was a fun little concept.)
BreakTheCode 3 when?
Unfortunately, that's still unknown. BreakTheCode 1 had a survey at the end, asking if a yearly repeat was something fans wanted. 2 hasn't had anything like that as of writing this, so the fate of this niche little competition is up in the air. If this year's contest is anything to go by, though, it's gonna be wild!
Anyway, that was my coverage of BreakTheCode, a fun contest that brings together people from all over the globe together with one common goal; to beat the puzzles and the clock to emerge victorious. Asutosh Variar, signing off!
